User interface design – Supporting the development of middleware in the laboratory environment
Project duration: 1 year, 7 months
Brief description
A laboratory middleware is to be further developed and a customer-specific graphic design framework to be modified on the basis of an existing application. For this purpose, the project team will rework paper and software mockups, develop new functions, and carry out formative and summative usability tests.
Supplement
UCD (user centered design) is at the center of the approach. With the aid of user tests and iterative design, an attempt is made to develop the ideal user interface. Morae is used as the user testing tool. Balsamiq is used for drafting graphics for scenarios, although Axure is gradually taking over this role (thanks to greater interactivity options).
Subject description
The design of the interface should comply with the approach outlined in the ISO 62366 guidelines, which stipulate how medical devices should behave in order to prevent possible user errors. The approach must be followed in order to satisfy the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
