Unicode conversion in SAP

Brief description
The customer operates and maintains an SAP HCM system on behalf of the company on which only the HR (Human Resources) application is operated. This system is used, among other things, to run payroll accounting for many companies belonging to the group.
Supplement
The activities in the area of Unicode conversion are largely carried out by PTA, from analysis to implementation to Go Live support, with selective internal support from technical specialists or the specialist departments for testing.
Subject description
To do this, objects had to be rewritten and then checked for correct function. The tasks included the following activities: Performing a UCCHECK in the system, cleaning up the programs in the system with regard to Unicode and potential runtime errors, and activating the UNICODE checkbox for programs without Unicode errors In addition, documentation was written on how to correct the errors and quality assurance of the cleaned programs was carried out. The system determined 550 objects that needed to be converted. In addition, the interfaces to other systems, which provide either an input or an output to the HR system, had to be checked for Unicode capability and modified if necessary.
