Testing service for a laboratory information system
Brief description
Testing as a service (TaaS) in the course of further development or maintenance of a laboratory information system that is sold to hospitals and laboratories. The main tasks are to create test cases in coordination with Requirements Engineering and Development, to carry out and document tasks as well as to identify possible error sources and effects of errors in the application.
Supplement
The test environment includes not only the functions of the main application but also testing the runnability of interfaces and various environments. To do this, tests are carried out with various configurations on a wide range of server environments. Testing of interfaces to analytical devices is carried out by HL7/ASTM simulators. If an error occurs or there is a problem with processing a change/issue, it is the responsibility of the testers to create structured test cases. Types of testing that are undertaken include fall-back and integration tests as well as automated testing. Test sets comprising a pool of all test cases are created for each test type and each available tester, and are taken into the particular phase by the tester. The test procedure is divided into two phase, the preliminary and the final test phase. Scrum is used as the project method. The test cases are managed with HP ALM. The Sprints are planned and controlled using MS Visual Studio.
Subject description
The laboratory information system is used for recording, processing and forwarding medical and administrative data in a laboratory. In addition to the main Central Laboratory module, the software comprises the Blood Depot and Microbiology sub-modules. The primary functions of the LIS include taking the patient samples and defining the parameters to be established, assigning the analytical procedures and dividing up the samples and measurements, releasing the collected results as well as archiving the data and printing out analysis and result documents.
