The integrated system monitoring supports technical support in determining system failures. Messages are sent as e-mail/SMS in the event of an error. The status of the systems is visualized in a portal as a portlet.
Supplement
The workflow monitors whether each of the systems to be checked can be reached periodically and sends an e-mail to the responsible group of persons if there is an error. Concept and implementation of a prototype: Each of the system monitoring workflows provides the status of the tested system to a central reporting system. The developed system processes the status messages and saves them in a database for follow-up. If there is status change, the responsible group of persons is informed about this by e-mail/SMS. Implementation is as a portlet in a portal for visualization of the system status entries and master data of the monitored systems. The user can employ colored highlighting in traffic-light colors to indicate the status of a system. The stored responsible persons, their contact data and additional information are displayed if required.
Subject description
The IT landscape of a company comprises different software and hardware components. Failures in the hardware and errors in the software cannot be completely avoided during everyday operations. A failure of parts of the systems must be detected as early as possible when company-critical processes are involved, and then rectified. Automated system monitoring with notification in case of an error or fault helps the responsible persons to detect problems.
