Support and further development in product information management (PIM)

Project duration: 3 years, 3 months

Brief description

Support and further development of the customer's product information management system (PIM) with regard to the product data model and conception, specification and implementation of interfaces to third-party systems as well as the expansion in the direction of digitization and internationalization in retail.

Supplement

The work is carried out for the client's IT department to support the e-commerce, sales, product management and marketing departments. The E-commerce department provides technical and organizational support for the customer's sales activities. The roles of business analyst, IT project manager, system developer and application support specialist are alternately performed. The main requirement is to provide customers with relevant product information in an importable, electronic exchange format. When the catalogs are exported, post-processing takes place with XSLT scripts, which represent the customer-specific preparation. For this purpose, existing XSLT scripts are improved or completely newly created. The most important resulting export formats are BMEcat/XML (in different variants, e.g. conform PBS media data standard), Excel, CSV and PDF.

Subject description

The company mainly supplies B2B customers with paper products. The PIM system is specifically designed to manage descriptive product data and, in particular, to route it to various output channels (e-catalogues, PBSeasy, web shops) for different marketing and sales purposes. The PIM system transfers article and article master data from the SoftM ERP system, combines articles into products, maps various classification systems including product grouping, and flexibly enters and maintains any descriptive attributes. The software contains an image database (DAM) with supporting functions and supports the creation of individual data export formats as well as the creation of hierarchically structured print publications, making cross media publishing (CMP) possible. The operation of the system is ensured and the end customers are supplied with product data and prices.
