Supply Chain Management for large plant engineering
Project duration: 20 years
Brief description
Ongoing further development of a software system for controlling the supply chain in large plant engineering. In addition to activities in the plant and on the construction site, suppliers or subcontractors are also linked in.
Supplement
PTA has been supporting the development of the software for this complex system for many years. In addition to functional enhancements and the integration of various software systems, PTA also applies the relevant technological advances in IT. The various subprojects are described under their own project IDs: 595, 483, 422, 1553, 900, 884, 462, 1671-1673, 1997-1998, 2000, 2003, 204, 2007-2010, 2156, 2157, 2158.
Subject description
A highly distributed application is installed to support the entire supply chain between a plant constructor's suppliers and customers; the application is used in multiple languages around the world. In the initial stages of development, operating sequences are merely documented and the exchange of information is supported. In the later stages and the current developments, planning has become more established in the system, with the focus on shortening lead times. The additional function of prefabrication is then added to the supply chain. To manage the complex workflow, various monitoring mechanisms and reminder functions were introduced for both internal and external participants. The heterogeneous system landscape was taken into account, as were a marketing strategy to increase acceptance of the system.
