Standard software for freight forwarders: Evaluation of system architecture
Project duration: 3 months
Brief description
The proven standard software system EuroMistral used by a variety of carriers will be subjected to a reengineering and migrating to a future-oriented system architecture in J2EE. In the initialization phase of this project appropriate development environments and runtime systems are defined.
Supplement
In preparation for project work, the development methodology and the future system architecture is evaluated. The existing functional specifications are used to check how the described user interface requirements can be met. It is important to ensure that the existing business logic coded in Cobol can continue to be used and then be replaced gradually with Java code. Tools from Microfocus are intended for use with this functionality. The application should also support several web application servers and database systems.
Subject description
The standard software will contain functions that must be processed on rich clients (e.g. easy-to-use MRP for transports), as well as browser-based transactions. Starting with the functional requirements, a decision is made on which tools, methods, frameworks, etc. are used. A Swing application is planned for MRP, for example, while a Struts framework or JSF (Java Server Faces) is planned for the browser functions.y
