Implementation of an SQL Server 2005 cluster to increase the availability of the data basis of an ERP application.
Supplement
It is a high availability solution for the existing Honeywell ERP application. The existing Oracle system will be replaced by an SQL Server 2005 environment. A Windows server cluster is set up in the central location. The use of a standby server in a second location provides additional security against a complete failure of the central system. Data is replicated between the two locations using SQL Server Log Shipping. This project is the first stage of expansion. In a second step, the server computers are upgraded and physically separated.
Subject description
The ERP system controls the paper machines in the plant. If this system fails, the machines will continue to run, but some important processes, in particular delivery and invoicing, cannot be continued. In the warehouse there is space for the finished rolls of paper from 4 hours of production, after which the entire production has to be stopped.
