Work on the business blueprints for implementation of SAP EWM 9.1 for a new logistics distribution center (LDC). The previously-used Warehouse Management System is to be replaced, and SAP EWM implemented. SAP EWM is to be linked to the existing ERP System SAP ERP (Retail) and form a standard SAP system landscape. Also, possible logistical optimizations will be realized by the SAP EWM functionality. There are plans to extend SAP EWM to other storage locations. As part of the new implementation of SAP EWM the database is to be converted to HANA by SAP. This conversion was, however, performed in a separate project.
Supplement
The customer decided on SAP EWM, because the company already uses SAP ERP (Retail) as its ERP system. A strong extension of business activities is planned that requires high-performance warehouse management software. SAP EWM can be used to reflect and perform complex operative processes. The interface connection from external systems (e.g. suppliers) is performed via the SAP ERP system as a central instance. SAP EWM is connected to the SAP ERP System as a decentral warehouse management system. After entry of requirements during workshops, solution approaches are formulated within a business blueprint (functional concept).
Subject description
The SAP EWM warehouse management software supports the company in complex warehousing processes, planning of goods receipt loads, determination of individual storage strategies, resource management in the warehouse and connection to an automatic high rack storage system. The diverse options of the EWM systems give the customer maximum flexibility when optimizing warehousing activities. Special processes such as cross-docking processes are also supported.
