Review and optimization of a test management system

Brief description

The customer uses his own TMS software (Transport Management System) as a central application to support his business processes and also takes over quality management for this purpose. The PTA examines and optimizes the current test process and test management as part of a review. The objectives of this review and the associated adjustments to the test process include uniform documentation and control and evaluation of the test activities. In addition, there is an increase in test coverage with regard to new developments and existing processes as well as the implementation of the complete test process in the ALM tool SpiraTeam and an increase in the quality of the software used.

Supplement

PTA records and optimizes the entire test process from planning the test activities, processing, documentation and execution as well as evaluation of the test cases to the use of the ALM tool SpiraTeam. For this purpose, guidelines and specifications for the test process and the test strategy are defined in workshops together with the customer. These guidelines and specifications are based on the established test activities and can also be practically implemented in the day-to-day business of the customer. In addition, PTA writes a test manual tailored to the customer that reflects the optimized test process. Furthermore, the content of the existing catalogue of regression tests for the operating processes is prepared together with the customer in order to use it as a basis for the upcoming automation. In order to increase the test coverage of the existing processes, the entirety of the processes to be tested is determined and successively covered by the creation of further regressive test scenarios.

Subject description

By monitoring the test activities during ongoing operation and improving the 'Hands-On' workflows, the PTA ensures rapid implementation of the agreed measures. In employee training courses, the customer is given intensive advice on creating test cases and using SpiraTeam. The test management review optimizes the test process and improves the test procedure. This reduces the risk of error effects during operation and leads to an increase in software quality.
