Requirements Analysis of power real time reporting infrastructure
Project duration: 6 months
Brief description
Success or failure in power trading is increasingly dependent on up-to-date and reliable information. Improving the reporting infrastructure and reduction of maintenance and further development costs are always challenges in power trading companies. Regular analysis of the existing reports and IT solutions based on their reliability, their performance and their usage allows proposals to be made for technical adjustments, optimized usage and potentially to decommission redundant functionality. All three aspects are key factors to increase power trading success.
Supplement
For systematic analysis BPMN process models show the workflows and restrictions of the various trading teams. Tool-based documentation in Enterprise Architect or Symbio Web is fast and provides comprehensive documentation. Time aspects are particularly important in order to derive requirements for performance and reliability. Based on the process models and the contents of the existing reports, the requirements for harmonized reporting and weaknesses of the existing solutions are made visible. Analyzing the weak point as well as the requirements allows suggestions for enhancements, training, optimized use to be made and redundant functionality to be discarded.
Subject description
Power trading reports show the open positions and balancing group positions in near-real time. Moving aggregated positions and balances to auctions and the assignment to different trading desks is a time-critical task. The specialist market traders can only trade successfully if they have up-to-date information instantly available. Any reporting infrastructure downtime significantly reduces the potential trading success and increases the risk of loss considerably. A redundant reporting system, as technically independent as possible, is one success factor in trading. Technologically online reporting systems integrated into ETRM solutions compete with cloud-based streaming solutions. Both worlds can complement each other and ensure a stable and rapid reporting infrastructure.
