Replacement of document repository with an independent system with REST API and Outlook add-in
Brief description
The aim is to relieve the central master data application with an independent document repository. The previous document repository only allowed the customer a simple relationship between the functional context and the document. This restriction is removed by a multiple relationship with the new document repository. A REST API enables access to the document repository from any system and the previous Outlook add-in is replaced by a new one, which is based on the interface design of the old add-in so that the user at best does not even notice the changeover.
Supplement
Methodically, work is carried out every four weeks according to customer standards. The documents are stored in a Microsoft SQL database. The REST API is used to retrieve and add the documents and validate the technical context by communicating with the REST API of the central master data application. To do this, endpoints must be added to this application, which then take over the validation. The Microsoft Outlook 365 add-in is based on a dynamically generated HTML page, which then calls the REST API of the document repository to upload the desired document. The conceptualisation was documented in Confluence and adapted using an agile approach.
Subject description
The project is divided into 3 phases: The migration of existing documents, the storage of automatic analyses from the central master data application, and the creation of documents from the central master data application.
