Replacement of Crystal Reports with Microsoft Reporting Services
Project duration: 6 months
Brief description
The incoming document entry system displays electronically-received incoming documents to the user in PDF format. This display is provided via Crystal Reports and will be replaced during the project by Microsoft Reporting Services.
Supplement
The code-based technical solution required for the use of Crystal Reports has proven extremely inflexible and adjustments are very work-intensive. Because support for Crystal Reports in Microsoft Visual Studio is now charged for, a Microsoft-internal solution is preferred and implemented. To enable this, an existing report server and the system's own SQL database are used to export the invoice data from an XML structure to saved procedures. In addition, all Excel reports are converted from Crystal Reports to Microsoft Reporting Services.
Subject description
Electronic invoices based on the EDIFACT procedure are saved to enable further automatic processing of the data. The data are exported and displayed in order to provide the user with a corresponding visual representation of the invoice data. In the event of spontaneous requirements from the user, changes can be made to the report and updated on a release-independent basis. A visual representation of the transmitted counter information is also displayed.
