Quality assurance and acceptance inventory management system Customer release
Project duration: 2 years
Brief description
Preparation and execution of the acceptance test for the customer master data release of a newly developed inventory management system, which gradually replaces the old system. The activities mainly comprise the creation of test cases, clarification of technical gaps in the requirements as well as the execution of the final acceptance of the software delivered by an external service provider. In addition to the interfaces to the legacy system, numerous interfaces to third-party systems must also be taken into account and the quality of the migrated data must be checked.
Supplement
MS Team Foundation Server is used as test management system. Database based tests and analyses are carried out with the PSQL Control Center or Oracle SQL Developer. Confluence is used as platform for team-internal and cross-team documentation. The legacy system are Cobol-based programs on a Wang machine. The big challenge is the mapping between the old, file-based data structures and the new business object model. Since, among other things, contract management and billing must continue to be performed in the legacy system, parallel operation is necessary. Additional complexity is created by the numerous necessary interfaces to existing satellite systems. The implementation of end-to-end scenarios is intended to ensure that downstream processes such as billing still function properly after the central customer master data has been transferred and relocated to the new system.
Subject description
The inventory management system in this case is a CRM system, which essentially serves the administration of customer information (among other things for acquisition), administration of contracts with customers and insurers as well as the control of billing.
