This project aims at the development of two mobile (Windows 10 Apps) prototypes, which can optically identify products in different ways using the webcam. Based on successful recognition, product information is retrieved from the CRM backend and displayed on the user interface. The main focus is on Augmented Reality and OCR.
Supplement
The first prototype is based on a combined approach of optical text recognition (OCR) combined with Augmented Reality (AR). If a serial number or alternatively a bar code is detected, the data is retrieved and the corresponding areas are provided with an augmentation. This augmentation essentially consists of central product information. The second, alternative approach does without the AR functionality and focuses on optical product recognition. Products can be identified by optical text recognition, bar code recognition or QR code recognition. The product information is then displayed on a separate full-screen page of the app so that as much product information as possible can be displayed.
Subject description
Optical recognition is intended to facilitate the identification of specific products on site (field use) and to make product data such as key figures and service information available quickly and easily.
