Print component based on ComponentOne

Project duration: 5 months

Brief description

The print component separates reporting from the implementation of the entire application, thereby enabling prototype reports to be created in consultation with the key user. The decentralized use of the requirements analysis and the implementation thereby significantly reduce the dependencies.

Supplement

The print component is further developed to accept a flat data structure as input at the interface. A graphical interface can be used to develop a report containing the cover sheets and subsequent sheets. The report can be designed using various group change levels. There are headers and footers. An analogy with the reporting tool from Access is helpful in imagining the way in which the graphical editor works (ComponentOne component C1Report with Report Designer).

Subject description

The customer operates complex, decentralized standard software in which the different modules also have different release cycles. There is also a geographical separation between the requirements analysis and development. This means that reporting has to be decoupled from the implementation. The print component separates reporting from the implementation, thereby enabling prototype reports to be created in consultation with the key user. The completed report is then linked into the application environment as a DLL. This means that the release policy does not affect report optimizations.
