The two systems to be aligned use very different data storage systems. The agency management and information system uses a Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere 9 database. The mobile devices use separate, different systems that are able to synchronize themselves with MS Outlook with the help of standard software. To make use of this option, the synchronization is carried out indirectly in two steps. One step performs the synchronization between the agency management and information system and MS Outlook, the other step transfers the data from MS Outlook to the mobile client.
Subject description
The increasing proliferation of small mobile devices, such as PDAs and smartphones, and the aim of being available to the customer and constantly reaching out to customers' changing needs make it necessary to introduce suitable software for synchronizing data between mobile devices and the agency management and information system. The synchronization only takes dates and tasks into account for a customer. Furthermore, the synchronization has to fulfill a range of other requirements: for example, the data reconciliation should only take place if the agency management and information system is installed (registration needed); standard software is to be used on the PDA side; user authorizations need to be taken into account. The scope of services also includes the basic initialization of the mobile devices.
