Introduction of MS Outlook as the standard e-mail program in the insurance agencies, and integrating it in the agency management and information system. When the previous e-mail system is replaced, all the available functions must be retained. Another important aspect of the implementation is bypassing well intentioned safety features of MS Outlook.
Supplement
E-mail systems as an interface to the outside world represent a potential risk factor to the security of a company's information systems. Due to MS Outlook's existing security restrictions, the Extended MAPI interface is used in the implementation in addition to the Outlook COM object model, which can only be used to a limited extent. The interface is addressed via a wrapper purchased externally.
Subject description
License costs for external software often represent a significant part of the IT tasks in a company. To help avoid further rises in license costs, the previous standard e-mail program is replaced by MS Outlook. Users are expected to barely notice the introduction of the new e-mail software and its integration in the agency management and information system. This means that all the operating elements for the agency management and information system should remain fundamentally unchanged. Great importance is also placed on retaining the previous functions in the new implementation. Particular attention should be given to the option of assigning an e-mail to a customer in the agency management and information system and to the support for multiple inboxes (including group inboxes).
