In a Webshop of a full-range online retailer, a search algorithm is being integrated into the product search as a pilot project. It is started if the customer's product search has not returned any direct hits. The search algorithm is based on historical search results and similar searches which are available through web tracking, as well as on statistical processes. The search algorithm uses Big Data technologies.

PTA has supported the Group department responsible for the contractual coordination of the application in planning and implementing the pilot project as well as defining and evaluating the KPIs.
Subject description
The goal of the pilot project is to investigate the quality of the search algorithm in real use. In order to assess the improvement of the sales success, factors including the length of time spent by customers in the shop and the sales volume generated from visits in which the search algorithm was used are compared with product searches which do not display any search result.
