In an internationally active mail-order business, new methods are specified for business process management and business process modeling as part of the realignment within an SAP introduction project. The aim is to consolidate past results, harmonize specialist processes throughout the group and continue the SAP introduction with standardized methods.

In order to ensure that the results that have already been acquired are still useable after the realignment, all the business process models are evaluated functionally and methodically, formatted and stored in Agilian in structured form. The packages of tasks that are necessary, from a methodical perspective, to continue the SAP introduction are identified, their contents are described and the effort involved in implementing them is estimated. The focuses are: evaluating and using previous experience, clearly specifying the objectives of introducing business process management and the resulting requirements for business process modeling. The newly created business process map is used as the basis for modeling business scenarios with the help of BPMN in Agilian. These business scenarios are used to functionally adjust and check the completeness of the business process map. The existing modeling guidelines are revised. There is then a quick check of Agilian and an evaluation of alternative tools.
