Laboratory middleware has the task of automating sample distribution to various devices in the analytical testing laboratory. A wide variety of devices are involved in the sample processing workflow, from sample preparation and sample preparation for measurement to a large variety of measuring devices within the same workflow. The results produced by the measuring devices and sensors for monitoring the environment are collected by the laboratory middleware and forwarded to higher-level systems.
Supplement
The LMW is implemented as a backend tool, there is only one UI for configuration. A workflow engine is integrated to control the sample distribution. The simple UI is implemented in Blazor, the backend with .Net 8, the processes are documented with BPMN, ALM for requirements management and testing is SpiraPlan, source code management is done with Git and Azure Devops, which is also used to manage the agile development process.
Subject description
The degree of automation in analytical laboratories is currently not very advanced. Many processes are at least partially manual, and results are only in part recorded and transmitted electronically. Laboratories, on the other hand, are very interested in automating their processes to a greater extent. On the IT side, there is a lack of systems that can map the sometimes very complex and individual test protocols for the analyses and integrate them into the sample processing procedure. The idea is therefore to implement laboratory middleware that takes on this task and acts as a link between the devices and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems)
