New services offered free of charge should offer shipment recipients (customers) greater flexibility with regard to the time and delivery location of a shipment that is to be received. Depending on the shipment status, a registered shipment recipient of a delivery process that is already in process can use the channels of an app and/or desktop to book a redirection, for example, for a package collection shop or a date of their choosing. These services are necessary for logistics service providers if they are to compete successfully in the future. The focuses of the work include supporting project management in clarifying overarching outstanding issues and the conceptual design and monitoring of the operational test in the last phase of the project before the go-live of the software.
Supplement
In coordination with the specialist departments of Sales and distribution, Logistics and Customer Service, a concept is worked out for the operative test, test scenarios are defined and the necessary documents for control are created. MS Excel is used as the test management software. The operational test is performed with shipment in real operation for two pilot offices. All components except for the user interface for posting the recipient services are already online. The postings of the recipient services during the test are carried out using SOAP UI open source software. Together with the specialist departments, an overall evaluation of the operative test is carried out at the end and used by management as a basis for deciding on the planned go-live of the software.
Subject description
Implementing this project enables shipment recipients for the first time to actively intervene in the delivery process. In other words, after placement of the order and the assignment by the client (e.g. online shop), the shipment recipient has until the shipment is received by the branch to post one of the following services: desired delivery day, desired parcel shop, desired neighbor, desired place of deposit. The services that are available depend on a set of rules that essentially consist of the shipment characteristics and the restrictions specified by the clients. On request, the shipment recipient also receives information about the shipment status automatically via e-mail.
