Introduction of a streaming middleware solution for power scheduling
Brief description
An internationally active power plant operator is renewing its system landscape for power scheduling. The internally developed IT system is replaced by the standard solution DeltaXE from Volue. For the connection to internal as well as external third-party systems such as Endur from ION or SAP, the customer implements a middleware solution using Kafka and Flink. The PTA takes over the communication and control of the development teams with regard to the implementation of the interfaces, and represents the workstream in the project steering committees and towards the project stakeholders.
Supplement
The newly built streaming-enabled integration solution runs in the Azure Cloud and includes components such as Azure API management, Kafka, Flink and a confluent schema registry, connect for logging event and log information in an Azure SQL DB. The evaluation of event and log information is done via a Power BI dashbaord. The tests cover the entire pipeline and reporting E2E.
Subject description
The middleware is a component of the system landscape that ensures the timely, correct and flexible transmission of energy deals to the DeltaXE power scheduling system. Based on the deals from the various source systems, DeltaXE generates schedules and sends them to the regional utilities.
