To create a further sales channel in addition to the company's own online shop, an interface between the internal enterprise resource planning system and the Amazon Marketplace sales portal is designed and implemented technically. The interface is based on the standardized Amazon Marketplace web service. The web service is connected on the customer side via the Talend integration tool using the Java API, which needs to be installed locally and is also provided by Amazon.
Supplement
First, product data such as a product description and inventory figures are sent from the internal enterprise resource planning system to Amazon Marketplace. Incoming purchase orders are queried via the web service, transferred to the internal enterprise resource planning system and processed there using the existing logic. The current processing status (e.g. "sent") of a purchase order is transferred to Amazon Marketplace for the purpose of informing the purchaser. These flows of information are each implemented in Talend Data Services by means of dedicated routines with access to the local Java API. The most important modules that Java API provides are functions for signing and encoding in accordance with MD5. The data to be transferred to Marketplace are exported from the internal Oracle database and converted into CSV or XML format, according to the Amazon specifications.

In addition to the company's own online shop, Amazon will act as a second sales portal. The configuration of the existing internal project management and enterprise resource planning systems is enhanced in order to adapt product characteristics for Amazon and to be able to process orders from Amazon correctly.
