Host replacement for inventory product allocations
Project duration: 6 months
Brief description
The existing functions on the host computer for the inventory product allocations of major customers are replaced. The functions are transferred to the purchasing system and the corresponding connection to inventory management is created.
Supplement
New interfaces between the purchasing system and inventory management (individual Java software) are adjusted. This involves both web services and batch interfaces. Essentially, they are used for transferring product allocation specifications to inventory management and for transferring the stock distribution to purchasing. No fundamentally new functions are implemented. In the context of agile software development (scrum), there is a detailed analysis based on the requested technical functions (features). An as-is analysis is used to break the features down into packages, prioritize the features and pass them on to development in the form of stories. Self-defined functional test cases are used by the developer to accept the functions implemented in the Java application. All the implemented functions are documented in the form of use case documents. Functional sequences are modeled in Agilian with the help of BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation).
Subject description
Major customers are often supplied with goods through replenishment storage locations. These order larger quantities to supply their own end customers. To do this, the group reserves corresponding stock quantities of the goods. At regular intervals, the purchasing department reports these stock quantities for reservation to inventory management in the form of what are known as contingent specifications. Inventory management takes the reserved quantities into account when allocating stocks. End customers have no access to the reserved quantities. Major customers are supplied with goods from the contingents according to specified priorities. Each inventory alteration and contingent change by the purchasing department results in a redistribution of the stocks and commitments to contingents, which inventory management calculates using complex business rules. The resulting stock situation, consisting of the available stock and the utilized quantity of the contingent, is regularly reported to the purchasing dept.
