Elicitation of user needs for an in-vitro diagnostics production building

Based on the scope of the project and the interfaces to other processes at the site, a chapter structure is created that serves as a guide for interviews with users in order to understand tasks, problems and bottlenecks in the current production process. The needs derived from these interviews are recorded in the form of user stories. Particularly important is the associated rationale, which describes the reason or purpose for a requirement and thus represents the justification for the requirement. In addition, fit criteria describe what is at least necessary to develop a solution for the requested need. The advantage of this approach is that the problem space and solution space are not mixed together. This clearly allows the user and stakeholder needs to be documented without relying too heavily on existing solutions. In this way, the potential solution for a user need is not restricted in the subsequent concept and design phase.
