Brief description
Support for documentation and enhancement of a data warehouse (DWH). In order to harmonize various subsidiaries in a group of companies, their data is to be collected in a DWH and extended where necessary. The technology this is based on consists of Microsoft products.
Supplement
The business intelligence tools from Microsoft are used to integrate data from various sources (different systems and databases) into an existing DWH. The data from these new sources are initially transferred to the DWH 1:1 in an ETL process, where they are then subjected to various transformations, before finally being loaded to a dimensional target data model. A reporting tool uses Cognos to access this dimensional data model in order to generate various reports.
Subject description
The DWH for an organization contains information from several subsidiaries. Due to internal restructuring, the management roles of two subsidiaries are to be swapped. The processes from the previously senior subsidiary are to be analyzed and documented so that they can be transferred to the newly senior subsidiary. The processes range from connecting raw data from various sources, through to automatic control of ETL tasks. Due to the different organizational forms of the subsidiaries, additional different sources are added.
