Creating, enhancing and maintaining a variant product configuration tool (CPQ tool)
Brief description
The customer produces and sells individually configurable machines. The creation of such a configuration from various structural components is subject to technical dependencies and restrictions. To support the seller and order management, a global Excel application is being developed that can map these dependencies and enables a price calculation of the individually configured machine.
Supplement
The data basis including prices and description of the technical dependencies comes from SAP ERP 6.0 and is copied into the MS Excel tool. Further subsequent processes can be initiated directly from Excel, such as exporting to a MS Word document for quotation creation and margin calculation by adding costs.
Subject description
The user can configure a machine via an easy-to-use interface and during the process technical restrictions are displayed as errors that can be eliminated by the user by selecting or deselecting structural components of the machine. In addition, the price of the machine is calculated. This tool is continuously maintained and expanded, for example, by extending it to other countries and markets and by incorporating and implementing new requirements. The development is carried out in close coordination with the offer and product management as well as the regional sales organisations.
