The project aims to create a financial group report. A set of financial data needed from our client's business units to perform this task was defined. Furthermore the project aims to provide an interface to enter the data and to develop a database to store the collected data. Finally reports for our client's key stakeholders are provided.
Supplement
The data provided by the business units were ".csv" files based on Excel. They were formatted to be compatible with the new data model. These files were uploaded via a standard utility to the host environment, where they are processed and stored in a DB2 database. The created reports where implemented by means of our client's standard reporting utility with the use of XML and XUI.
Subject description
Our client's financial planning process has seen significant changes in 2013. The biggest change consists of an initiative to transfer responsibility to the individual business unit teams. In the planning cycle 2014-2016 the business units are first responsible for planning their financial statements. In accordance with the group guidelines, the business units utilized the group's projection models ("GP") to generate the P&L statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement and different KPIs for the Plan reporting using US GAAP. As a result, the single business units will need to issue the financial plan 2015-2017 within parameters defined by the group. This is the foundation for a consolidated group financial plan. The project asks for the following minimum requirements: Define the set of financial data for business unit submissions; develop a database to store this data; provide a suitable interface to enter this data and build the consolidated group report results for the key stakeholders.
