An existing IT system for managing tools is to be modernised technologically and according to current user experience concepts. In technical terms, this affects around 10 issuing centres spread across several locations. For several decades, a constantly evolving MS Access solution has been used for this purpose, the operating concept of which no longer meets current requirements. In addition, the maintenance and further development of this legacy system involves relatively high costs. The task of PTA is to prepare the conceptualisation of the decision to redesign the system in the form of an intranet application based on a make-or-buy assessment. In addition to the associated departmental coordination regarding the layout and operating concept, various prototypes are created to ensure the feasibility of technological requirements.
Supplement
The future system should fulfil the existing company requirements in terms of operation, master data usage, data protection and security. Within the framework of these restrictions, UI mock-ups, data model proposals and technology prototypes are also created and agreed with representatives of the departments concerned. Technologically, operation is planned in the context of a Windows Server 2022, SQL Server 2022 system landscape as an intranet application based on .NET8. Special technological approaches for the integration of smartcards as identification for borrowers and barcode scanners for the efficient management of equipment are being developed within this framework.
Subject description
The IT system should efficiently cover the existing technical processes of a tool management system with several distributed locations. In particular, this includes the management of equipment lending processes and their organisational monitoring.
