Analysis of the legal system, the organisation and the processes of a financial company
Project duration: 2 months
Brief description
The customer acts as an acquirer, i.e. as a link between the credit card providers and the merchants both in traditional stores and online. In addition to acquiring, the customer also provides other products such as payment terminals, cash safes and various other services. The client uses a customised solution based on Windows Forms and SQL Server databases on the Microsoft .NET stack as the master data system. The application functions as a legal system and is connected to approx. 15 different systems (e.g. accounting, CRM, etc.) via interfaces. Accordingly, there are many dependencies. The client is planning to modernise the application and needs support with the complex issues. PTA GmbH provides a consultant who carries out an as-is analysis, documents the situation and defines instructions for action.
Supplement
The PTA GmbH consultant conducts interviews with various stakeholders of the client. In addition to the management, this also includes specialist departments such as sales, internal sales, the development department, auditing, IT operations and IT. Based on the interviews, an assessment is made and instructions for action are defined. The instructions for action include, among other things, process recording using BPMN, conversion of the software development process from waterfall to an agile approach taking into account the BAIT requirements, conceptual proposals with regard to software architecture (from desktop to modern web applications) and approaches for the modernisation and go-live of the new solution. The result of the analysis is a 60-page PowerPoint presentation and a high-level project plan.
Subject description
The customer acts as an acquirer, i.e. as a link between the credit card providers and the merchants both in traditional stores and online. In addition to acquiring, the client also provides other products such as payment terminals, cash safes and various other services. For this purpose, the client uses a legal system that maps the contractual data of merchants and intermediaries. Intermediaries refer merchants to the client and are commissioned individually accordingly. The client settles transactions and fees with the traders. The legal system is the data basis for various applications that are needed for subsequent processes. By means of the preliminary analysis, various aspects with regard to architecture, processes within the framework of software development and organisational framework conditions are to be analysed.
