Development of recommendations to ensure accessibility for a trade fair website. Every two years the customer organizes a trade fair for people with and without disabilities. This trade fair is an exchange platform and contact point for this topic and is aimed at people with disabilities of all kinds as well as at interested parties and manufacturers of auxiliary products that make everyday life easier. In order to reinforce the pioneering role of the trade fair, the organizer is changing the website to a barrier-free version.

The revised website shall comply with the guidelines of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG, version 2.0). These ensure that websites can be used by utilities such as a screen reader. In a first step, a checklist based on the WCAG 2.0 criteria is created and used to check the existing website. The results will be made available to the trade fair organiser and a web partner. For the unfulfilled criteria, design and implementation recommendations are given in order to revise the website in a targeted manner. After the recommendations have been incorporated by the web partner, the website is WCAG 2.0-compliant and can be used by more people.
