PTA awarded 1st place in the Best of Consulting Award by WirtschaftsWoche
The Best of Consulting Award has become a tradition and is recognized across all industries: Since 2009, WirtschaftsWoche has been honoring Germany’s best management consultancies and their flagship projects, thus creating clarity in a non-transparent market. PTA IT-Beratung GmbH from Mannheim is among this year’s winners of the Best of Consulting Awards 2022. The IT specialists from the city of squares received first prize in the “Technologies” category for the Lighthouse project, which they realized together with the BKK Pfalz. BKK Pfalz is the first statutory health insurance provider to successfully implement a digital and interactive video counseling assistant for complex care counseling. The jury was certain that this digitalization project could serve as a blueprint for other statutory health insurance companies and voted it to the top of the winners’ podium in first place.
The award ceremony took place on November 29, 2022 at the Hotel Kö59 in Düsseldorf During the gala, the expert jury of WirtschaftsWoche awarded the winners of the Best of Consulting Blue Chip, Best of Consulting and Best of Consulting Mittelstand. The delegation from PTA IT-Beratung in Mannheim was also on stage to receive their award. It took first place in the “Technologies” category for the groundbreaking digitization project at BKK Pfalz. After all, the healthcare system – and this includes statutory health insurance companies – must become more digital. Even though they operate in a strictly regulated market environment and patient data is particularly worthy of protection;
High demands require intelligent solutions
However, these high entry hurdles have not discouraged BKK Pfalz or PTA IT-Beratung, quite the contrary; Both companies have taken the challenges as an opportunity to to jointly launch a digitalization project that is likely to serve as a blueprint for other statutory health insurance companies: With the IT specialists from PTA, BKK Pfalz has digitized its entire nursing advice service. BKK Pfalz is the first statutory health insurance provider in Germany to use NEXOVI, the PTA’s digital consulting assistant. He supports the health insurance company and its insured persons by providing comprehensible and expert advice on all aspects of applying for long-term care services. BKK Pfalz uses a professional actress named Anna as a spokesperson for the personal approach via the consultation assistant. Anna guides all interested parties through the complex consultation and application process in a clear and dialog-oriented manner. The times when insured persons had to pick up a comprehensive information brochure, which raised many questions, are now a thing of the past at BKK Pfalz.
Everyone involved benefits from Anna
With the use of Avatar Anna at BKK Pfalz, there are no longer any fixed service times or consultation hours for care advice. BKK Pfalz thus conveniently transfers many technical questions, services and offers directly to the living room couch of its customers; They receive a first-class digital consulting service – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Both the customers of BKK Pfalz and the health insurance fund itself benefit in the area of care advice. Thanks to the fully digitized end-to-end process, the susceptibility to errors is close to zero; This frees up resources, relieves customer service and saves BKK Pfalz a lot of time and therefore money.
Intelligent digital workflows increase the quality of process flows…

Incidentally, the Best of Consulting Award from Germany’s leading business magazine is not the first award that the video advice assistant developed by the PTA advisors. NEXOVI has already been awarded second place in the Best Practice Award at the CIO Digital Transformation Summit 2022. The award was presented taking into account the organizational, cultural and technological transformation initiated by the IT solution submitted, accompanied by the experts’ assessment of the general added value provided by the best-practice example;
