More and more smart metering systems are being used in metering point operation. These metering devices are equipped with smart meter gateways, which handle the communication. The transition from conventional or modern metering equipment to smart metering systems is implemented for the customer in the internal systems.
Supplement
The customer as metering point operator is responsible for the measurement of energy consumption or energy generation at his customer. According to the specifications of the BDEW (German Association of Energy and Water Industries), the metering point operator must carry out the star-shaped communication of the energy data for all market participants (distribution network operator, supplier, transmission network operator and, if applicable, other metering point operators). The measurement and preparation of meter data is a central part of the daily business. The central master data application and the customer's incoming document system are further developed using .NET code, and the data is stored in SQL databases.
Subject description
Different types of metering equipment are used on the market to measure electricity consumption and generation. These are, for example, conventional manually read electronic single or bidirectional meters or modern remotely readable meters. Smart metering systems are modern metering devices that are equipped with a smart meter gateway. As an interface between the meter and the communication network, this gateway allows direct readout of the processed metered values. The smart metering systems can measure quarter-hourly load profile values and report them continuously. So far, the customer uses these load profile values for balancing, but not for billing for the time being. Therefore, conceptual challenges arise for the presentation in the internal systems (master data application, incoming document system and energy information system). After implementation according to the specifications of the specialist departments, user training is provided and the system is handed over to the internal IT department.
