Test automation for invoice control in the retail sector
Brief description
Development of an automated solution for the execution of end-to-end scenarios within the invoice control system of a major retail company. The implementation takes place with a custom made test framework based on Java and Selenium (WebDriver). The primary goal of this implementation is an increased test coverage as well as the reduction of manual test efforts. In the context of the agile process model (Scrum), the sprint-accompanying regression tests have a special significance in order to ensure the quality of the software after changes and refactorings.
Supplement
Test scenarios are developed in coordination with the customer's specialist department and implemented on the basis of Java and Selenium (WebDriver). The test framework enables test execution across system boundaries. This includes the use of REST interfaces. For the control and evaluation of the test execution, the integration into the ALM tool SpiraTest from Inflectra is implemented. In addition to the manual and time-controlled execution of test series, the consolidation of all necessary information for error analysis takes place there as well.
Subject description
Invoice control is a department within the retail company which is responsible for checking warehouse deliveries. For this purpose, the incoming goods received by the warehouses are compared to the suppliers' invoices with regard to the quantities and prices delivered. In addition, the SAP system is supplied with information that is utilized in the annual accrual process. The software developed as part of the project will largely automate the business and technical processes. An item-by-item execution of the invoice control process should lead to an optimized utilization of the department's resources as well as to a faster error analysis.
