Test strategy for connecting automatic warehouse management systems to existing logistics systems
Project duration: 9 months
Brief description
As part of the overall project, several new warehouse locations will be built and commissioned by the customer: These have different degrees of automation in the various product ranges (dry goods and fresh service). To this end, various automation service providers will be integrated into the customer's existing system landscape. The PTA develops the test strategy for the customer to connect the inventory systems, in particular the decentralized warehouse management system, to the systems of the various automatic service providers and creates a test concept for this purpose. Furthermore, PTA supports the customer in the conception of the test strategy for the integration and acceptance of the automatic warehouse management systems for the respective warehouse locations. For this purpose, a template is created from which the test concepts of the respective warehouse locations are derived.
Supplement
The extension of the existing systems for the illustration of the automation processes as well as the binding of the different automation systems is illustrated in own subprojects. A 'translator' is used for communication with the individual automatic warehouse management systems. Since the automatic systems are not yet available during development, the test strategy is set up taking simulators and emulators into account. In addition, a strategy for the introduction of cross-system test automation and regression tests at process level will be developed. The strategy is summarized and documented in a test concept.
Subject description
At the same time, the various automatic warehouse management systems are configured and further developed for specific warehouses in individual subprojects. For this purpose, test activities are designed for technical acceptance by the specialist department. Building on this, a test concept for the multi-stage integration and acceptance of the overall system is developed for the IT and functional integration of the respective locations with the customer's existing systems. The existing systems and the automatic systems, including the conveyor and storage technology, are successively combined in test sections in this concept, which is concluded with a trial run of the entire plant under real conditions. The strategy will be summarized and documented in a test concept template, which will be completed in the course of the project for each specific warehouse.
