SAP BW on HANA: Evaluation of HANA-specific advantages for analytics tasks
Brief description
Evaluation of the transformation of a traditional SAP Business Warehouse into a new generation data warehouse, especially in the provision of data via ODP and with regard to the specific advantages of the HANA database. The overall process of Analytics is considered: Data provision (ODP), integration, modeling, transformation, programming and visualization.
Supplement
The technological framework is BW 7.5 SP4 (or higher), which allows a largely consistent use of the relevant development environment (BW-MT on Eclipse). Current methods, including methods for realizing performance gains, are considered in the process steps data provision and integration as well as data transformation. Operational Data Provisioning (ODP), which is the new central technical infrastructure for data extraction and replication from SAP sources to BW, plays an important role and replaces existing technologies – e. g. for ERP connection – as well as new options such as the integration of HANA Information Views. Furthermore, hybrid scenarios – HANA and BW staging with integration in BW – and native HANA modeling with SQL script and information views as well as their direct integration in the reporting tools will be investigated. The current BI frontends: Analysis for Office, Business Object Design Studio and Lumira 2.1 are used.
