Recording and tracking component defects in production
Project duration: 2 years, 1 month
Brief description
A new web application is created for a manufacturer of components for aircraft construction, in order to document and track defects in delivered components and own components. Business processes are supported across multiple departments. The application provides a flexible task system within the recorded defect reports in order to initiate the steps needed to process the defects. The application provides the basis for enhanced evaluations. The new intranet application replaces the existing manual process in paper form or with MS Access.
Supplement
PTA's tasks include collecting and analyzing the requirements, and technical implementation of these requirements. An iterative project method is used so that customer feedback can be included in the process. The defect reports module involves compiling defect reports, processing the defect reports, and the workflow components. Single sign-on is used; authorization for specific functions or dialog areas is determined using AD roles. Actions are processed in accordance with a configurable workflow with automatic email dispatch. The ASP.NET MVC Framework is used with Telerik KendoUI and Bootstrap in order to create an attractive user interface (GUI). An n-layer architecture designed by PTA is used: central components are the comprehensive functions and the functional business logic. MS SQL Server is available for data storage with the MS Entity Framework as the access layer.
Subject description
For these manufacturers, the components delivered and the end products must meet defined quality standards. The new application provides all specialist users with a central layer, which was not previously available, for viewing all the recorded defects. Furthermore, further steps for each identified defect can be defined and monitored in the context of the actions.
