Migration of the data of one insurance division from multiple source systems organized by function into an all-division system (personal and property insurance). In the context of the unloading, transformation and loading process, various topics such as testing, the coexistence of source and target system, migration procedure need to be conceptualized and processed in terms of project planning.
Supplement
Source systems and target systems are based on a 3-layer architecture. Both sides use a DB2 database data for data storage. While the business logic in the functionally separate source systems is still implemented in PL/I in many parts, the target system uses an object-oriented approach with Java. The user interfaces for the target system are implemented in Java. The architecture of the target system makes it possible to offer standardized interfaces with different partners, across divisions. It also represents the basis for standardized operation of the various channels of communication to the customer or sales partners. The DB2 Visualizer is used to support the necessary analysis activities in the source and target system and to determine suitable test cases. Test cases are documented in HP ALM.
Subject description
The move from the individual division systems to an all-division system offers the insurance company a variety of benefits throughout all subsections of the business process. In addition, this results in an overall view of the technical insurance requirements of insurance holders, and it enables individual customer support. This is also reflected in the increasing scope of digital services, such as claims processing, contract information or creating applications. At the same time, it is possible to implement requirements for all columns just once, across all columns. This also reduces the duration of the processes involved in providing new software components.
