SAP ERP 6.0: Unicode changeover for custom developments

Brief description
Since the mid-90s, the customer has operated specific central applications, such as dispatch and forwarding administration, communication with authorities, shareholders etc., and quantity and stock calculation, in a dedicated SAP ERP system as complete customer developments under ABAP. In order to create the necessary technical foundations for upcoming, far-reaching adjustments and enhancements, a long-deferred Unicode changeover is to be performed, among other tasks.
Supplement
Most of the activities, from analysis, via implementation, to go-live support, are performed by PTA, with selective internal support from technical specialists or specialist departments for testing.
Subject description
The major challenge here is the fact that these applications are entirely customer-developed. The usual SAP tools and procedures for Unicode changeovers are only partially effective. This approach was initially chosen because the specific requirements of the business area and the shareholder structure with its complex internal settlement could not be mapped using the standard system.
