Further development of a computer core for a private health insurance
Project duration: 4 years, 9 months
Brief description
Further development of a computer core used by a private health insurance company for calculating contributions as well as providing support for technical processes such as contribution recons, changes of tariff or contribution adaptations. The computer core is used both in online mode by the case handler and as a batch function.
Supplement
The previously used system for inventory management is being replaced by a new system, so the computer core of the new system has to support all tariffs and processes of the old system. For this purpose, it is necessary to expand the computer core of the new system to include very many functions, because in future it will have to be able to deal with all tariff types, all of the inventory contracts and all technical processes. The new system is distributed between different platforms. The case handler uses a Windows-based client for creating new contracts and changing contracts; contracts sent by external staff are processed by a Linux-based application server, and batch processes such as contribution adaptations and contribution refunds run on the host. The computer core is written in C++ because of the different platforms.
Subject description
The computer core receives and processes all tariff setting and contribution-relevant data. There is a large number of different tariffs from the areas of comprehensive medical expenses insurance, additional insurance, nursing insurance and sick pay with a large number of technical processes, as a result of which a large number of changes are planned to the computer core over the course of several years.
