Conversion of SAP interface connection to internal systems
Project duration: 10 months
Brief description
Due to a change in supplier during SAP system usage, the existing interfaces between the previous SAP system and the existing internal systems are converted and adapted to match new SAP system. This includes the interfaces for master data exchange (customers, vendors) as well as for the transaction data (clients, postings, dunnings, balance query).
Supplement
The technical interface connection is established via a BizTalk server that exchanges IDOC's with SAP as well as starting direct BAPI calls. The technical connection of the relevant systems is achieved using in-house XML formats between BizTalk server and a master data application, as well as an incoming document entry system. During the system conversion, 8 interfaces are identified. Of these, 6 existing interfaces (customer export, vendor, clients, dunnings, postings, delivery notes) need to be adapted and 2 interfaces (customer import, customer balance query) need to be redeveloped. During the technical conversion, the internal systems must also be adapted in order to correctly reflect the modified processes when exchanging transaction data (postings, payments). A separate configuration module is used for the gradual activation of individual interfaces before final conversion and release of processes and functionalities in the master data application.
Subject description
For the implementation, the existing processes are analyzed and checked to determine to what extent they can now be integrated with the new business processes and SAP processes. Adjustments are carried out both in the customer internal processes and also in the specified business processes and SAP processes of the host. Particular care is taken to prepare the integration in parallel with ongoing daily operations and, above all, to implement the conversion in the master data exchange processes early on in order to ensure data quality. The system conversion is performed on the 30.06.2014. This is when the old interfaces are completely deactivated and the new interfaces put into operation.
