Requirements Engineering process improvement initiative
Project duration: 9 months
Brief description
An interdisciplinary group of specialists is established within the scope of a reorganization by the customer with the objective of harmonizing and improving the implemented Requirements Engineering and Management Process. For this, organization-wide weaknesses are identified, possible solutions worked out and defined in quality-relevant documents. The core element is the creation of a stakeholder survey for identifying areas of possible change using a Web-based survey tool. A list of prioritized measures is produced through semi-automatic evaluation of survey results. Approved changes are the implemented iteratively in selected projects and given intensive support.
Supplement
A stakeholder analysis is performed to identify the current situation, which then serves as the basis for developing a questionnaire. The questionnaire is developed during several workshops and implemented in a web-based survey tool of the customer. The results are evaluated semi-automatically, with the support of self-developed Excel-VBA macros.
Subject description
The process improvements in the requirements engineering process are categorized by subject area: Process integration, process quality, awareness, methodology, (requirements) configuration management; change management. The interplay with agile development methods (SCRUM), perceived quality of the requirements work and understanding of the overall process are investigated intensively.
