Standardization and extension of a legacy communication platform

Brief description
An existing technical communication and protocol translation platform, which enables a message exchange between the instruments and the laboratory information/middleware systems, will be refactored, standardized, documented, and further developed. The PTA employees will primarily be involved in the requirements documentation and structuring as well as the tool synchronization.
Supplement
Due to the high degree to which the platform is integrated in existing customer software, the necessity of developing this product as an independent project was recognized. For this purpose, besides the code refactoring of the components, a redocumentation of the requirements or a restructuring of the requirements should be performed and a standard project process model should be introduced.
Subject description
The instrument communication uses various protocols (XML, ASTM, HL7) to receive, convert, and forward messages to the relevant recipients, by using an Oracle-based message queuing system. Moreover, drivers are integrated which are based on a parallel developed driver framework.
