Implementation of WiM processes (changing processes in metering)

Project duration: 10 months

Brief description

In this project, the business processes implemented to map metering point operation (project reference: Integration of metering point operation in the master data system) are analyzed and adjusted in terms of implementing the findings of the German Federal Network Agency concerning the WiM processes. In addition to this, the associated communication path for electronic data exchange (sending and receiving) shall be designed and realized in the EDIFACT format.

Supplement

The customer's master data application is based on a three-layer, service-oriented architecture (.Net-based thin client, application server, MS SQL 2008). The business processes are integrated into the master data application, taking the specified deadlines into account. The messages are processed via an existing EDI archive that converts the EDIFACT messages in e-mail attachments into XML format and forwards them to the master data application for further processing. When messages are sent, XML files generated by the master data application are imported from the BizTalk server, converted to the EDIFACT format and transferred to the EDI archive. The EDI archive uses this to generate e-mails, which are transferred to an e-mail server. Communication between the BizTalk server and the EDI archive is via web methods. The development is carried out in C# based on the .NET 3.5 framework. The common EDIFACT standards applicable on October 1, 2011, are implemented.

Subject description

In order to open up the metering market, the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has created WiM processes (changing processes in metering). These create reliable framework conditions that are suitable for bulk business for the actors involved in processing metering. The decision was announced on April 1, 2011 and has to be implemented by the relevant market participants by October 1, 2011. The standardization of business processes and contracts enables more rapid and efficient cooperation between network operators, metering service providers and metering point operators, when operating metering points and collecting, processing and distributing the relevant metering information. The customer is already actively operating metering point operation and is planning to perform it for other customers. The customer officially performs both roles (metering point operator and metering service provider) in the market and the associated market communication.
