Project coordination and support for tracking and tracing pilot project
Project duration: 4 months
Brief description
The introduction of a mobile solution for tracking and tracing cash deliveries is coordinated. On the basis of a mobile framework provided across Europe by EMEA IT, country-specific modifications are made for the pilot project in Germany. The local project introduction is coordinated initially for three runs (project planning, controlling, EMEA reporting, customer communication, test planning, test logging, training, user support, installation of hardware and software).
Supplement
The application comprises a mobile part (handheld) and a central part (back office). The mobile part was developed under the .NET Compact Framework and communicates with the central part (SQL Server) via middleware. A wireless connection via GPRS, etc., is possible in principle but is not part of the current project. The handhelds are equipped with a barcode scanner. Printing occurs on-site using a mobile Bluetooth printer.
Subject description
Cash in transit comprises the delivery and pick-up of cash deliveries. These include bank notes, hard cash, foreign currencies, and possibly other deliveries such as securities. Because cash deliveries are high-value deliveries, transfers (internally from the vault to the driver and externally from the driver to the customer) are always recorded. In the past, these transfers (also called unloading) were recorded manually on a delivery note and are now recorded in an automated manner with this solution (scanner, handheld, mobile printer). The new process is faster and less prone to entry errors than the previous solution.
