Creation of online dialogs for maintaining additional product characteristics for machines and product classes.
Supplement
As the machines and product classes can have different characteristics, the maintenance screen is created dynamically from a metadata directory during runtime. The maintenance screens involve 3270 screens. The PL/1 programming language is used to access the metadata, which is stored in a DB2 database.
Subject description
Selling machinery, especially used machines, over the Internet requires the products to be described as precisely as possible. Due to the broad product range it is necessary, on the one hand, to enter additional properties to the previous product characteristics and, on the other, to create as flexible an option as possible for entering characteristics and displaying the goods. Taking the requirements for a specific product category as the basis, a general, dynamic solution to the task is developed.
