Promoting innovation and driving the economy forward – PTA is a partner of the University Innovation Challenge 2021
As a partner of the University Innovation Challenge (UIC), the PTA Group is supporting a promising project to strengthen the start-up culture in Germany. The aim is to promote entrepreneurial spirit and innovative strength at German universities and to link them with industry. To this end, the UIC counts on numerous renowned partners from a wide range of subject areas. Among them: the PTA group, which will be in charge of the “Medical Technology” category. “We are delighted to be part of this year’s UIC and thus support the local start-up culture on the one hand and strengthen it on the other through entrepreneurial practical relevance,” explains Matthias Wossidlo, Member of the Management Board of PTA GmbH.
As head of the Life Science division, Dr. Thomas Steinmann will represent the PTA Group on the jury. “In the ‘Medical Technology’ category, which we support, digitalization and IT expertise are playing an increasingly important role in the company’s success,” says Dr. Steinmann. “And PTA has many years of experience in this area.” Your life science sector is characterized by intensive synergies between IT and the specialist disciplines of healthcare, medicine, medical technology, chemistry and pharmaceuticals/diagnostics. With the partnership at UIC, PTA becomes part of the UIC network, which not only promotes the exchange between start-ups and companies, but also the development of future-oriented ideas. A link between the university research environment and the economy bundles knowledge in subject areas that will be highly relevant in the future – and are already highly relevant today.
In order to take part in the UIC, start-ups and university research projects undergo a multi-stage selection process in which criteria such as “business model”, “demonstrable market success” and “innovation” are at the forefront of the evaluation. The concepts presented include current trend topics in the business world, such as “Medical Technology”, “Future Life Science” and “Artificial Intelligence”. The highlight of the UIC this year will once again be the live pitch by the two finalists: the 2021 final will take place on October 21 in Frankfurt am Main. The jury and an expert audience will decide on the winners.
