“The project launch in May marked another milestone towards vendor-independent software for network operators,” emphasized Gordon Pickford, project manager openKONSEQUENZ. Together with MVV Netze GmbH as product owner, PTA GmbH is developing a new software module for operational control in the field of energy supply. After the feed-in management, the operation diary module is now the second module to be developed in the openKONSEQUENZ consortium. Technically, it is based on the openK architecture platform specially designed for network operators. The special feature here is that the software is freely available and usable for everyone. In addition, anyone can view the source code and, if interested, even participate in and further develop it. The basis is an open source software that runs under the free license of the Eclipse Foundation.
The aim of the operations diary is the uniform and legally compliant documentation of essential information and processes in a network control center of a network operator, such as maintenance measures in the network, entering and leaving of facilities, stay of external personnel on company premises. The operating diary thus serves as a supplement to the control system log and forms an important building block for work organization in the control center. In addition to structured shift handover, it is to be used for the documented transfer of information from supervisors to employees.
The openKONSEQUENZ consortium is an association of network operators, IT manufacturers and institutions with the aim of developing and providing freely available software modules for the processes of operating energy and water networks. Making the software available as open source offers maximum transparency and opens up the possibility of implementing market and regulatory requirements in a flexible, fast and user-oriented manner. openKONSEQUENZ is open to interested network operators who wish to become members of the consortium.
The software modules are developed on the open source software platform openKONSEQUENZ, which is hosted on the infrastructure of the Eclipse Foundation. The Mannheim-based grid company MVV Netze GmbH is a Driver Member of the openKONSEQUENZ consortium and controls the development of the new module as Product Owner.
The development partner PTA GmbH is a Solution Member of the Eclipse Foundation and has decades of experience in the development and implementation of individual software in the energy – as well as many other industries.
